MARA Launches the MARA Foundation to Advance Bitcoin Security, Sovereignty, & Accessibility

Miami, FL, April 27, 2026 -- MARA Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: MARA) ("MARA" or the "Company"), a leading energy and digital infrastructure company, today announced the launch of the MARA Foundation, a new initiative dedicated to strengthening the Bitcoin network and expanding access to bitcoin as a tool for financial freedom. The MARA Foundation was unveiled at the Bitcoin 2026 conference in Las Vegas.

The MARA Foundation is focused on advancing Bitcoin’s long-term resilience and adoption across five key areas: protecting Bitcoin's long-term security, including quantum resistance research; supporting open-source development of Bitcoin technologies; expanding global access to self-custody tools and infrastructure; advancing Bitcoin policy and advocacy; and investing in education for users, developers and policymakers.

To celebrate its launch, the Foundation is introducing its first initiative: a $100,000 contribution, to be awarded to one of three mission-aligned organizations pre-selected by the MARA Foundation. The global bitcoin community is invited to participate by voting for the recipient. Voting is open via the MARA Foundation website until 3:00 PM PST on April 29, and attendees at Bitcoin 2026 may cast their vote in-person at the MARA booth.

The three candidates are:

• SateNet – An organization that aims to improve the quality of life in communities across the global South by providing low-cost, community-run, self-sustaining wireless internet service powered by Bitcoin.

• 256 Foundation – A 501(c)(3) public charity dedicated to funding developers who are building open-source Bitcoin mining hardware and software solutions and providing the educational resources, tools, and support to demystify Bitcoin.

• Libreria de Satoshi – An organization that seeks to make Bitcoin technical education accessible across all languages and geographies to decentralize Bitcoin knowledge and build the next generation of protocol developers.

The election results will be announced following the close of voting.
