Learn how MARA engaged with global leaders and policymakers shaping a more resilient and reliable energy future at UNGA 80 & Climate Week NYC.
This September, MARA had the privilege to participate in two of the most influential forums on sustainability and policy: the 80th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 80) and Climate Week NYC 2025. The conversations at both events underscored a common theme: scaling solutions that deliver measurable impact for people, economies, and the planet. From renewable energy and resilient infrastructure to AI and government investment, MARA engaged with global leaders and policymakers shaping a more reliable energy future.
UNGA 80: Shaping Global Policy on AI & Energy
Historic commitments are shaping the flow of global capital. In March, Saudi Arabia pledged $600 billion in U.S. investments and the United Arab Emirates established a $1.4 trillion framework that includes $200 billion for AI and clean energy. In the wake of these commitments, Jayson Browder, MARA’s SVP of Government Affairs and Social Responsibility, represented the company at UNGA 80 in a series of high-level dialogues bridging technology, policy, and investment.

MARA joined two private roundtables hosted respectively by Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Economy and Planning, and the UAE’s Minister of Foreign Trade. These forums brought together senior policymakers and Fortune 500 leaders to chart regulatory priorities and co-investment frameworks. Browder highlighted how MARA’s Bitcoin mining can integrate with renewable power, balance grids, and strengthen AI infrastructure.

For MARA – a member of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Chamber of Commerce, with CEO Fred Thiel as its newly elected Vice Chairman – participation in these forums reinforces our alignment with Gulf policy priorities and our commitment to the region’s long-term vision for energy and digital infrastructure. We are honored to play a role in the global effort to foster sustainable growth and energy independence while helping shape conversations that will define the next decade.
Climate Week: Performance, Resilience, & the Future of Sustainability
This year’s Climate Week NYC brought together sustainability leaders from across industries to confront climate challenges and opportunities, underscoring the need to navigate the evolving regulatory landscape, maintaining data-driven reporting standards, and advancing sustainable growth strategies. Brad Tomm, MARA's Director of Environment, Social, and Governance, attended a full week of insightful panels, forums, and summits including the Cleantech Leaders Roundtable, Sustainability Live Leaders Forum, Axios Media House Sustainability Summit, and Nasdaq’s Climate Week Forum.
Across these sessions, two themes consistently stood out: data-driven performance and resilience. Leaders emphasized that climate progress depends not just on ambition but on actionable insights, measurable outcomes, and the ability to build sustainability strategies that can withstand political, market, and environmental uncertainty.
Panels featuring U.S. energy policymakers, utility executives, and clean tech leaders reinforced that AI and data centers are central to the next generation of climate solutions. For MARA, this means advancing digital energy not only as a tool for efficiency but as critical infrastructure for resilience, sustainability, and long-term growth. By connecting compute with renewable power, MARA is building the foundation for a more sustainable, energy-secure future.
